Gender equality

  • Ensuring that the Global Fund’s policies, procedures and structures support programming that address gender inequalities and gender-based violence
  • Establishing and strengthening partnerships that effectively support the development and implementation of the Gender Equality Strategy, and
  • Providing leadership, internally and externally, by supporting, advancing and giving voice to the Gender Equality Strategy.

The Global Fund’s new HER Campaign aims to raise additional resources to reduce the number of new HIV infections among adolescent girls and young women by 58 percent in 13 African countries in the next five years. It will include efforts to expand access to rights-based programmes essential to adolescent girls and young women, including non-discriminatory HIV prevention programmes, information and education campaigns to empower girls, social protection – including prevention of gender-based violence – community engagement and investments in resilient and sustainable systems for health.
