Strengthening community systems and responses

Strengthening community systems and responses

The Global Fund’s priority and commitment to community systems strengthening (CSS) as outlined in the revised Community Systems Strengthening Framework, is an important part of promoting human rights and gender equality. By strengthening community systems, community based organizations, networks and civil society organizations are empowered to own, lead and advocate for programmes and policies that reflect their specific needs and priorities and ensure that their rights to health are realized. The Global Fund Technical Brief: Maximising impact by strengthening community systems and responses and the Global Fund Community Systems Strengthening Framework defines the terminology of CSS, presents an overall framework, discusses ways in which communities and their systems can contribute to improving health outcomes and recommends ways in which to integrate community systems strengthening interventions into Global Fund funding requests.
