Strengthen financial management and oversight

Robust financial management systems are an important element of building RSSH. Improving financial management capacity for the sustainable fiduciary management of grants is vital, and investments in financial management and health financing contribute to universal health coverage through support for implementing relevant health financing and policy reforms and instruments such as national health accounts or health insurance. Financial management capacity should focus on:

  1. Public financial management strengthening: Strengthen and align with country financial management systems for budgeting, accounting, reporting as well as activities promoting harmonisation with other development partners on financial management implementation arrangements for better health outcomes and sustainable impact.
  2. Routine financial management improvement: Financial management capacity development to enable better fiduciary control, timely and quality reporting for programme performance.
